Comcast Xfinity Home Alarm System Pros and Cons

Are you considering Xfinity Home Security? Before you make a decision, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons.

With convenient bundling and competitive promo prices, Xfinity offers some enticing benefits. However, there are also drawbacks to be aware of, such as upfront equipment costs and dated equipment. Additionally, their home automation features and capabilities may be more limited compared to other providers.

In this section, we’ll delve into the pros and cons of Xfinity Home Security to help you make an informed choice.

Pros

Convenient Bundling of Comcast Security and Other Services

You’ll love how convenient it is to bundle your Xfinity home security with other services. Xfinity offers the option to combine your home security system with your internet, cable, and phone services, creating a seamless and efficient experience.

Imagine having all your essential services under one provider, with one bill to manage. No more juggling multiple accounts and dealing with different customer service representatives. With Xfinity, you can easily control and monitor your home security system through the same app that manages your other services. This means you can arm or disarm your security system, view live video feeds, and receive notifications all from one centralized platform.

Bundling not only saves you time and effort but also provides a more integrated and streamlined approach to managing your home security and other services.

Competitive Promo Prices on Xfinity Home

Because they frequently offer special promotional pricing, you may be able to take advantage of some significant savings.  By snagging one of these special offers, you can have peace of mind without breaking the bank.

You can get top-notch security features, including 24/7 professional monitoring, smart home integration, and video surveillance.

Keep an eye out for Comcast Security promotional prices and you may find you can have a reliable home security system that won’t stretch your wallet.

Cons

Upfront Xfinity Security Equipment Costs

When it comes to upfront equipment costs, it’s important to consider your budget and financial goals. With Xfinity Home Security, you may find that the upfront equipment costs can be a con. The initial investment for the necessary equipment, such as cameras, sensors, and control panels, can be quite high. This can be a deterrent for some people, especially if they are on a tight budget or have other financial priorities.

However, it’s important to weigh this con against the benefits and long-term savings that Xfinity Home Security can provide. While the upfront costs may be a hurdle, the added security and peace of mind that comes with a comprehensive home security system may outweigh the initial expense.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide if the upfront equipment costs are worth it for your specific needs and circumstances.

Dated Xfinity Home Equipment

If you’re looking for the latest technology and modern features, the dated equipment of the Xfinity Home Security system may not meet your expectations.

While Xfinity offers a range of security equipment, some customers have reported that it lags behind in terms of innovation and functionality.

The system includes basic components such as door/window sensors, motion detectors, and a control panel. However, it lacks some advanced features like facial recognition, voice commands, and smart home integration that are now commonly available in other home security systems.

Additionally, the design of the equipment is not as sleek and stylish as some of its competitors.

Limited Home Automation Features and Capabilities

The limited home automation features in Xfinity’s system can be a drawback for those seeking a fully integrated smart home experience. Xfinity Home offers basic automation capabilities such as controlling lights, thermostats, and door locks. However, the options are quite limited compared to other providers in the market.

For example, you may be able to turn your lights on and off remotely or set schedules for your thermostat. But, you may not have the ability to integrate other smart devices such as cameras, doorbells, or smart appliances into the system. This can be frustrating for homeowners who want a comprehensive and seamless automation solution.

If you are looking for a more robust and customizable home automation system, you might want to explore other options in the market.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a convenient and competitively priced home security solution, Xfinity Home Security offers some pros.

The bundled packages and promotional prices make it an attractive option. However, it’s important to consider the upfront equipment costs and the fact that the equipment may not be the most up-to-date.

Additionally, if you’re looking for advanced home automation features, Xfinity may not offer the capabilities you desire.

Take these pros and cons into account before making a decision.

Xfinity Store by Comcast

I had to have a repairman come out because of the cable line sagging down to within 6-7 feet of the ground. I called Customer Service and they sent out a repairman the very next day at 8:00 A.M.; his name was Mike and he was prompt, courteous, friendly, and very efficient ---- he also replaced my TV remote while he was here. Mike was FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This store has screwed us over and the manager lied to me over the phone as well as corporate. I received a defective phone and brought it back within the two week policy. The representative wiped my phone when giving me a new one and then did not apply the promotion we originally were offered when getting the first phone. I had to wait over a week to hear from the manager. She never answered questions clearly, lied to corporate and said my phone was not defective (despite her worker confirming in person that I was) and refused to honor the promotion or give us any credit. As soon as the phones are paid off we will be leaving Xfinity, worst service I’ve ever had from this store, specifically the manager Mindy.
JP
Russel and the Manager are complete idiots. If you want your service shut off and billing screwed up go see them. Previous WiFi customer at my address returned equipment and shut down account but store employees couldn’t figure out how to shut down just old account so they shut down all service to the address. Spent an hour on phone to get my service back online and now my bill is screwed up and spent another hour trying to fix that. Go somewhere else.
Disappointed. I came in to check how to get service, but the guy asked me for stupid stuff including a rental lease proof! So I went to activate my service in White Marsh MD.
It was better, I've got my service, but I've got pissed off after months of waiting for my promotions and wasting my time. They told me that my promotions were disqualified
Xfinity sucks
I went in to switch from Verizon to Xfinity mobile service, and at this time they are running a promotion. We were there activating our phones and having them switched from Verizon Mobile service Xfinity and in the process I asked to get the promotion. I was told I could not get the promotion because my phone was activated by the technician 5-10 minutes earlier, and I was told that they have no way of going back. I believe that a grace period to make a decision would be more prudent and feel less predatory, especially for new customers that are taking a leap to a new carrier. Also, in this time when a relationship is new, I don't feel that a company should treat a new customer this poorly. I feel a grace period would show more understanding and compassion. I recommend or would understand at least a 30 day grace period since the new customer is still "new" and hasn't possibly even paid their first bill.

Comcast Home Security – 2023 Xfinity Home Security Reviews

Reputation and Credibility

Comcast Home Security entered the home security and automation industry in 2009 and has been primarily focused on adding Xfinity alarm services as a bundle for existing customers.  Their core competency has been delivering broadband internet providing Comcast internet to their customers with Xfinity service and producing maximum modem speed.

They are notorious for having poor customer service, although they have recently attained an A- BBB rating– despite closing 36,759 complaints lodged with the BBB in the last 3 years.

Comcast Security – Monitoring

Xfinity Home Security systems require a two(2) year monitoring contract with two primary security monitoring options.  They utilize third-party monitoring services which are UL Listed, and Five Diamond Certified.

Primary monitoring is through broadband connection with cellular monitoring available as backup.

Cellular monitoring is not available as the primary communication medium with Xfinity Home -potentially leaving the system vulnerable if the cable line is cut or compromised. It is however available as a backup.

How Much Does Comcast Home Security Cost?

The two security monitoring plan options offered by Xfinity are:

  • Xfinity Home-Secure 300– $39.95 a month

    • $99 Install
    • 1-Touch Screen Control Panel
    • 3-Door/Window Sensors
    • 1-Motion Sensor
    • 1-Wireless Keypad

  • Xfinity Home-Secure 350 – $49.95 a month

    • $399 Install
    • Secure 300 package PLUS
    • 2-Indoor/Outdoor Cameras
    • 2-Lighting Controllers

Note: Comcast Security has dropped the Secure 300 and Secure 350 packages.  They market similar offerings under their Home Secure package which starts at $39.95 without the initial bundling discount.

The Secure 350 serves as a reference for what a more comprehensive system might run. The latter package offers enhanced video and home automation capabilities.

Xfinity Home Security App

Both of these packages include interactive capabilities-which enable the user to monitor and operate the system remotely with their mobile application- the Xfinity Home Security App.

The Xfinity Home App offers Comcast customers the ability to manage all connected equipment and devices that have been installed right from their smartphone, tablet, or computer that has an internet connection- for an additional monthly fee.

Xfinity Home customers can feel more secure and enjoy reviewing system activity and monitoring the status of connected devices that can be remotely controlled by the Xfinity Home App.

Comcast Security cameras can also be installed and, once connected can be viewed on any device with a secure internet connection.

However, Comcast Home Security Reviews seem to indicate issues with the Xfinity Home App not working, and the Comcast Security Camera frequently requiring service.

Comcast Xfinity Security – Pricing and Smart Home Equipment

Basic equipment package pricing is included in the installation fees of the monitoring packages.  The equipment is proprietary, as Xfinity Control Panelopposed to a more recognized brand used by most of our top-rated alarm companies, and is reasonably priced from $49.99 for door/window sensors to $129 for thermostats and cameras.

However, their proprietary equipment may not be compatible with other security systems should you wish to switch to another security provider in the future. This is an important consideration…especially if you find yourself investing in more than just a basic package.

After laying out a substantial amount of equipment upfront, you will likely NOT be able to easily switch to another monitoring company and utilize the smart home equipment if you are unhappy with the service provided by Comcast Xfinity.

Xfinity Security –  Smart Home Automation

Comcast Xfinity security systems utilize the Zigbee communication platform for its smart home automation lighting, appliance, door locks, and thermostat control.

This may be a concern…as there have been recent tests indicating that there are vulnerabilities in this platform that might be exploited by more sophisticated would-be intruders. (see article-Researchers found a way to break through Comcast’s home security system)

Comcast Home Security Reviews – Customer Service

Customer service ratings, as a whole,  are a big challenge for Xfinity Home, as they are once again ranked among the lowest in corporate America.

There were mixed Comcast Reviews on security system installations, but the general consensus is that things will improve with their new “Customer Guarantee” policy scheduled to be introduced in 2015.

In 2016, our Xfinity Reviews continue to express a tremendous amount of customer dissatisfaction with  Xfinity Home Security systems.

Summary

Is Comcast Home Security for you?

The Xfinity Home Security program offers competitive security and home automation packages on the higher end of the pricing spectrum.

While we feel that there are superior options offered by our top 5 best home security companies, Comcast Home security is certainly an alternative for an existing Xfinity customer who wants the convenience of a single bill, and who has no interest in switching ISPs in the next 2-3 years.

However, given the potential system vulnerabilities, even an existing Xfinity customer would be wise to check out other security options before committing to a 2 year contract.

Xfinity Security Equipment

Comcast Security Panel

Comcast Home Security uses its own touchscreen panel.  Comcast broadband service is the primary communication platform, but also includes cellular as a back up in the event that the internet service is down.

It also includes Zigbee communication capabilities to provide home automation capability for a variety of door locks, lighting, and appliance control modules which can be controlled through the system.

The system is equipped with a 24 hour back up battery and a separate wireless keypad to enable one to control basic functions at the most common and mount it separately from the base unit.  This helps prevent “crash and smash” vulnerability.

Interactive services enable the system to be controlled remotely via a smartphone computer or tablet with internet service. While the application is not as highly rated as many competitors, one unique offering is the ability to check out live video and control the system on the TV with their  X1 subscription.

Xfinity Security System Components

Door and Window Contacts– These sensors are somewhat slimmer than most and have an LED indicator light that illuminates when paired. The magnet is active when mounted within three-quarters of an inch and activated when the magnetic contact is broken. They can be mounted with screws or the included industrial 2-sided adhesive tape.  They are equipped with 3V lithium batteries, with a 3-year battery lifespan. They are sold in a 5 pack, 3 pack and as singles.

Xfinity Security – Interior Protection

  • Xfinity Motion Sensor- The standard PIR (passive infrared) sensor uses True Motion Recognition and has a 30’ range.  It has one of the highest degrees of pet immunity and can screen out pets up to 85 lbs.

Comcast Security – Life Safety Devices

  • Smoke Detector- This professional-quality sensor combines a photoelectric smoke detector, and a fixed and rate of rise heat detector in a single unit-thus enabling it to provide more comprehensive protection than an ionization or single technology smoke sensor. It is equipped with a long-life 3V battery rated for 9 years.
  • Carbon Monoxide protection is not currently available.

Comcast Home Security System – Miscellaneous

  • Key Chain Remote- convenient key fob which enables you to arm and disarm the system and initiate a panic alert.
  • Water Sensor- Detects water from flooded basements or leaking pipes in a laundry room. It can be programmed to send alerts directly to your mobile device.

Comcast Security – Home Automation

  • Appliance Modules- Each outlet controller plugs in directly to standard wall receptacles and control attached lamps or appliances. Smart lighting can be controlled through the system or remotely..and even has a button that can control the appliance manually. It also includes an LED indicator for load status and configuration.
  • Kwikset Door Locks- Door can be opened with a standard key, your control panel, a touch code or through the Xfinity interactive app on any computer or mobile device!
  • Chamberlain Remote Garage Opener-This 3rd party item is compatible with the Xfinity home security system. It enables you to monitor, open and close your garage door and is compatible with most garage door brands manufactured since 1993.
  • Zen Thermostat– The security system can control this thermostat, enabling you to manage the thermostat remotely to ensure that the home is warm or cool when you return home.

Xfinity Camera

The indoor Xfinity camera provides 720 HD resolution is equipped with an IR sensor to enable low light night time viewing. This Xfinity security camera is wireless but must be powered. The Comcast Security Camera enables one to monitor live video feeds as well as record video clips.

One can even set up the Xfinity Home Security system to have the Comcast Security Cameras record clips activated by motion and send a text or e-mail notification which can be viewed on a smartphone or any web-enabled device.

The X-Cam Xfinity Camera can be set up with 24/7 video recording for an additional $10/mo.

The New generation Xfinity Camera – X-Cam

Xfinity Home Security Reviews - Xfinity X-Cam

The newest X-Finity Camera,  X-cam evolved from the previous version of the indoor Comcast Security Camera.  While it still offers only 720 HD Resolution, it has a weather-resistant housing and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

What is unique about the X-Cam is the Wi-Fi antenna is built into the power supply unit- thus moving it inside the home.  This serves the dual purpose of allowing a more compact form factor and maximizing the wireless range of the X-Cam.  (The Wi-Fi signal does not have to go through the walls.)

While the newest  Xfinity Camera is considered an indoor/outdoor camera, it is likely best to mount it in an area that is relatively sheltered from the elements.

We are interested in hearing from Xfinity Security customers who have installed the X-Cam.

How does it stand up to the elements?

Extreme heat?

Rain?

Harsh winter weather?

If you are using the Xfinity X-Cam as an outdoor wireless security camera, share your experiences in our Xfinity Home Security Reviews section.

Xfinity Home Security Response to the Coronavirus  Pandemic

Even though most people are very concerned with the potential spread of Covid-19, the  Comcast Security website, at the time of this update,  does not appear to have a published policy statement of how they are meeting the security needs of their Xfinity Security customers while maintaining a safe environment for their employees.

The site features a banner that indicates that service is only available in certain areas.

“ABILITY TO PURCHASE XFINITY HOME VARIES DUE TO COVID-19:

Offers are only available in areas where we can provide professional installation at this time.”

Security companies that offer professional installation face the challenges of how to handle in-home sales,  service, or installation appointments.

Before letting an Xfinity Home Security representative or technician into your home, it is recommended that you contact Comcast customer service to determine what steps are being taken to protect all parties from the potential of exposure to Covid-19.

The best home security companies have adopted a number of policies to maintain their sales, service, and monitoring standards while ensuring the safety of both their employees and customers.

  • To combat Covid in the workplace many companies have shifted a large percentage of their employees to remote operations.  They provide secure laptops for remote workers to ensure privacy.
  • The best alarm companies have multiple monitoring centers. In the event of a major outbreak, calls can be re-routed to another facility.
  • Customer-facing employees should be issued additional cleaning supplies, protective masks, and protective tools. Additionally, best practices for home security companies should ensure that clients are contacted prior to an appointment to make sure that they can provide a safe work environment.
  • Additionally, during the pandemic, many companies will encourage customers to reschedule if they are uncomfortable receiving sales, service, or installation personnel in their homes.

In comparing Xfinity home security with Frontpoint, the most glaring difference is probably in the overall poor customer satisfaction ratings from Xfinity alarm owners. The internet is rife with negative Xfinity home security reviews, where as Frontpoint reviews are overwhelmingingly positive.

This is reflected in the disparity between the Comcast security and the Frontpoint Home Security BBB ratings….B- to A+ respectively.

Equipment Ownership and Pricing

With Frontpoint security, you get the option of a one or three year monitoring agreement.  Once you have satisfied the terms of the agreement…you OWN the equipment. Frointpoint uses the most popular GE/Interlogix components which are compatible with virtually any system, should you ever decide to switch to another service provider.

With a Comcast Xfinity security system, Comcast retains ownership of the touchscreen control system even AFTER you have honored your contract.  If you leave Comcast, you must return the panel (or pay the full retail value), and you may find that many of the sensors are not compatible with other systems-potentially costing you a small fortune when you have to start all over again.

Xfinity does offer some reasonably attractive pricing on the Control 150, Secure 300 and Secure 350 packages (even offering multiple Xfinity security cameras in the Secure 350)…ALL of these packages require that you MUST maintain qualifying Comcast broadband service to support their systems.  Thus…effectively holding one hostage for both services the full length of the  Comcast Home Security contract.

Frontpoint Monitoring Features

Although Comcast offers quality monitoring, it doesn’t come with some of the premium monitoring features that Frontpoint offers;Xfinity Home- Frontpoint Security

  • Alarm.com’s Award-winning User Interface
  • Crash and Smash Protection
  • Geo Location Services

These are just a few of the reasons why there are so many negative Xfinity home security reviews-while the vast majority of Frontpoint security reviews reflect a very positive experience.

If you compare them with the customer Xfinity Home reviews, you might decide to take a second look at Fronpoint.

If you are ready for the best customer service –check out Frontpoint!

Add reviews to table.

Armorax DIY or Comcast Xfinity Professional Install?

If you are considering Xfinity Home Security from Comcast, it is likely because you have seen lots of glitzy marketing materials and  think you will save money by bundling.  Read on and you will find that saving with bundling is something of a myth.

Xfinty alarms are professionally installed, but that is not always a good thing.  The effectiveness of your security system is largely dependant on the caliber of the installer.  Online Xfinity reviews often detail a multitude of issues resulting from poorly trained or inexperienced installers.

There was a time when home security systems required professional installation . Security systems used to be complicated and require drilling holes, fishing wires and programming systems.

Today,  modern wireless technologies have evolved to the point where installing a security system from a reputable DIY Alarm Company means mounting a few sensors and calling in to activate the system.

Armorax pre-programs and configures the system before shipping it out…so installation is a snap.

Consequently, over 90% of DIY alarm customers found the system “easy to install”.

2018 Armorax Security vs. Comcast Home Alarm Reviews Update

Some of our initial enthusiasm pertaining to Armorax has recently dropped away significantly since the company continuously indicates symptoms that it’s having difficulties.

The Better Business Bureau standing has recently slipped off noticeably from an A (from the time of the our original Comcast home security reviews) to the current rating of a C+. This is likely indicative that Armorax hasn’t responded to user complaints lodged with the BBB.

As part of our secret shopping efforts, it seems that even the sales department fails to pick up calls.

Incoming calls are generally greeted by way of a voice mail which advises people to dial 911 if this is an emergency…or to remain on the phone for the sales department. After 2 or 3 minutes on hold, we were ultimately put through to  an answering service who could do nothing more than take a name along with telephone number for a return call.

This makes one wonder what takes place if I have a issues with my security system?

Frequent Changes since original Xfinity Security Reviews

In addition, Armorax has already changed vendors 3 x in the last year.

They have converted from the cutting edge 2 Gig lineup, temporarily marketed the Interlogix Simon XT, and are now supplying the less popular Resolution Helix control panel.

They also have totally changed their monitoring rate plan 3 times during the past 12 months. If you look at online Armorax reviews, you’ll find that no 2 web sites reflect the identical pricing structure. Armorax formerly offered no contract programs as well as services with No cost equipment and monitoring rates as little as $19.99/mo. (their initial promo for $24.99/mo. for security and full home automation was a superb value for money, when we originally compared them in our Xfinity Home Reviews. However, it is no longer available)

Their present-day promotion costs $99.00 up-front combined with basic monitoring starts at $34.99 and the Mobile APP is additional!

Lack of Transparency

In addition, the total deficiency of online transparency does little to encourage confidence. Currently Armorax has a a single page site that features little or no information regarding this company background, hardware, costs, monitoring company and services, Mobile App, Installation guidelines or even video tutorials …or nearly anything otherwise which a prospective client might choose to appreciate.

While Armorax exhibited terrific potential at first, our comparison in Xfinity home security reviews is no longer keen with regards to them as a reliable alternative to Comcast Xfinity home security systems . In our opinion, you will find far better selections.

Below is our original Armorax vs Xfinity Home Security reviews for comparison.

Reputation

Armorax has an A  BBB Rating, is fully accredited with the BBB , and has amassed an  impressive 88% positive reviews on the BBB reviews page.  This translates to a 4.67 out of 5 stars!

On the other hand Comcast Xfinity  has an A- rating, and has closed over 36,000 BBB complaints over the last few years.

Armorax Pricing

When it comes to pricing, Armorax keeps it simple- and crushes the competition.

The standard Armorax Blackbox system is a top of the line 2Gig Technologies  GC2, and it is FREE with a 36 month monitoring agreement!

Armorax add on sensors are competitive with the other wireless DIY alarm companies. (for current promotional pricing…just give them a quick call at …866-355-0640) Overall, the Armorax add ons are roughly half the price of professionally installed components.

Unlike Comcast Xfinity Security, with and Armorax Blackbox security system, once you satisfy the initial monitoring agreement, you own the equipment.  The equipment is not proprietary, nor are you required to return the control panel.

But, the monitoring price is what really sets Armorax apart. Right now they are offering Cellular Monitoring for just $24.95!

And that is not bare boned monitoring it includes:

  • Alarm.com
  • Interactive Service- Arm/Disarm/Notifications and Alerts
  • Comprehensive Home Automation
  • Video Surveillance Monitoring/Management
  • Crash and Smash
  • Geo Services….and more.

All for $24.95/mo.

And that is NOT an introductory price.  That includes a Rate Lock Guarrantee!

Xfinity Alarm Pricing

While the package pricing looks fairly attractive, you do not actuallly own the control panel…which controls the entire system. If you terminate service with Comcast, you must return the control panel or pay hundreds of dollars.

The equipment is also proprietary to their system, so that you cannot use it with another service provider. This becomes especially irksome if you pay for add on items which can be substantially more than the prices of our best DIY alarm companies.

Equipment and Monitoring

Armorax Blackbox  security systems are comprised of top rated 2Gig Technologies equipment.

Based on these offerings, Armorax is taking the industry by storm. They  received our Silver  Award 2017 Top 5 Best Home Security Companies- Armoraxas one of the TOP Home Security Companies of 2017.

While Xfinity advertises attractive equipment packages and low introductory rates, they gloss over the price hikes after the initial introductory period and often don’t disclose that the equipment is essentially leased and is not compatible with most security systems.

And while Xfinity home security systems require their cable service connections, Armorax systems come standard with Cellular monitoring -which means that there there is no cable service required…and no lines that can be cut.

With Armorax– the basic system is free and includes  cellular communication chip! There are no additional costs for the cellular monitoring…which is only $24.95 for everything.

Xfinity Security Systems require an upfront installation fee, and charge higher monitoring rates for packages that require additional services.  Ultimately costing more than twice as much per month on more comprehensive packages.

Interactive Features

Xfinity offers a full portfolio of security and home automation services which utilize their proprietary app for interactive services.

Armorax uses award winning Interactive Platform is provided by Alarm.com. It is by far the most stable and feature rich interactive platform and includes:

  • Smash and Crash Protection– alerts the central station of an intrusion- even if the system is destroyed
  • Geo Fencing– uses GPS location on your cell phone to automatically control security and home automation functions
  • Power Outage Notification – if there is loss of power, the system sends you an alert

In keeping with their “get the best for less”,  Armorax offers a premium touchscreen  2Gig GC2 control panel Ackerman Alarm Review- 2Gig Control Panelwhich  can display local weather 5 day forecasts and provide severe weather warnings in an emergency.

The GC2 is  equipped with an integrated Z-Wave communication module which enables comprehensive home automation and management capability of virtually any Z-Wave compatible device!

There is a nominal fee of just $49.95 to upgrade to the GC3, which gives you additional features and capabilities and a full 7″ touchscreen display.

Summary

Armorax delivers state of the art, DIY security and home automation products with the lowest available cellular monitoring that includes Alarm.com services.  With a FREE premium  system and full featured monitoring services for $24.95/mo, Armorax is truly an unbeatable value.

Will pets set off my motion detector?

Will a pet put off the Xfinity Home Security motion sensor?

Motion detectors can be an important part of your home security system. They can eliminate the need to contact all the doors and windows. Window sensor on Comcast Home Security systems can really add up if you have to place them on all the doors and windows.

They are a cost-effective method to protect an entire room or strategic areas.  If an intruder enters they will almost surely need to pass through specific hallways or stairways. These are good places to mount a motion sensor. Your Comcast security system motions-if they are properly positioned motion detectors will screen out small pets under 40 pounds.

If you’ve got a larger pet…ask your Xfinity Security rep about sensors that can screen out pets up to 80 lbs. If you have a larger pet that can’t be confined from areas covered by motions, then you might even create a “pet alley”. Ask your Comcast technician for details.

In addition, you might want to consider a Comcast alarm glass break detector as an alternate option.

Don’t forget, an Xfinity Home security system can also give you real-time alerts through Xfinity internet on your Xfinity Mobile App.

If you already have a Comcast Home Security System, please share your experiences with customer service in our section for customer Xfinity Home Security reviews.

Cancelling Comcast Xfinity Alarm Contracts

Find out how to end a Comcast Security System agreement

Xfinity Home Reviews warn all to understand Comcast Security Contract Obligations

Most home security providers demand a 3 to 5-year monitoring written agreement whenever you sign up with the company. So the fact that Xfinity Home Security requires a 2 Year Contract should be no surprise. ADT Pulse is even longer.

Most home security plans require an installation fee and require that you maintain their security systems and their security service for at least a couple of years.

It is a somewhat common practice within the burglar alarm business and Xfinity Home Alarm systems are no exception to this… although the term is a bit shorter. But…keep in mind, the purchaser has a 3 day right of rescission.

Often times, Do-it-yourself home security system companies offer a 14, Thirty and maybe even 2-month refund policy. In spite of this, if you are installing a Comcast Security System, you have to take appropriate steps swiftly to end the agreement within 72 hours of the time the documents were in fact finalized.

Once past the rescission or return period, one may be typically accountable for all, or perhaps the vast majority of the monitoring obligations for the full period of the contract, even in the event one relocates past the service region of the company. So when you believe that you will probably be relocating, just remember to have a relatively clear comprehension of your duties to Comcast before you make a commitment.

Understanding terms regarding your Xfinity Home contract

Many of the other problem areas concerning Comcast Alarms or other home security deals tend to be:

Escalation clauses- A lot of companies maintain the right to raise the monitoring fee after the first year…even if the contract time period is actually greater.

Auto Renewal Clauses – Some agreements repeatedly renew on a yearly, or sometimes greater interval after the initial term is done except in cases where the prospect formally cancels the deal and meets the required terms and conditions associated with cancellation.

Cancellation Conditions – All too often times, the agreement is required to be terminated in writing, Thirty and maybe even 2 months prior to the conclusion of the initial legally binding contract. Be sure that you speak to Comcast Xfinity Security customer support and fully understand specifically what important factors really need to be fulfilled to end the commitment.

Canceling your contract with Comcast Home Security

OK….you’ve read the Xfinity home security reviews and decided it’s time to complete that commitment. Be sure that you undertake each one of the essential measures and record all of the conversations.

Comcast security reviews remind everyone:

Call- and file the call with time and contact information

Mail- Submit notice by way of certified mail

E-Mail- that includes “read “receipt Xfinity Security reviews often recommend that you confirm each of the steps are very well recorded and keep them where they’re able to be easily retrieved just in case there might be a dispute.

Also- remember to check your bank account to make certain that there are no computerized debits after the authorized date.

Xfinity Alarm Reviews -Switching to your future service provider

As a result of your experience with Comcast Home Security, you’re almost certainly going to possess a better idea what your ideal company should be like. Our concise security alarm questionnaire will assist you to narrow down the choices.

Xfinity Home Bundling and Home Automation

Does Comcast Home Security offer bundled packages for Xfinity?

Indeed they do.  There is a $10 a month discount on the both the Xfinity Home Secure 300 and the Xfinity Home Secure 350 for the first 12 months of the 24 month contract, when packaged with any other Comcast service.

After the first 12 months, the service will revert to the standard pricing of $39.95 and $49.95 respectively. Keep in mind, that Comcast requires you to maintain broadband service to your system, so that the minimum monthly service charge will be $69.99.

This rate hike is often the catalyst for negative Xfinity Home Security Reviews.

Can you just get Home Automation?

Yes. Comcast offers a stand alone home automation package.

Xfinity Home Control 150

Comcast gives customers the option of adding home automation capabilities to their fully monitored Home Secure 300/350 systems…or getting self monitored home automation as an independent system.  The Home Control 150 is controlled with the Xfinity Mobile App. The monthly fee is $19.95 (with a 24 Month Contract) and the Basic Starter Kit is professionally installed for $99.00.  The package includes:

  • 1-Hub
  • 1-Motion Sensor
  • 1-Door Contact
  • 1-Night Vision Indoor/Outdoor  Camera OR 1 Thermostat
  • 1- Lighting controller

The system can also be ordered as a self install for free. (Plus shipping) Additional components can be ordered and installed separately….and are competitively priced. Comcast incorporates the Zigbee communication platform for it’s home automation control.  As mentioned earlier, there may be cause for concern…as recent articles have indicated that there are vulnerabilities in this platform which might be exploited.

Does Xfinity’s home automation system work with other products?

Comcast has elected to partner with a number of 3rd party manufacturers and integrates and support their hardware and services through the Xfinity Home platform.  Some of these companies are:

  • Nest Learning Thermostat
  • August Smart Lock and August Connect
  • Lutron Lighting Controls i.e. Lutron Caseta
  • Chamberlain MyQ Garage Door Controls

Comcast is committed to integrating best in class 3rd party IoT (Internet of Thingsproducts into their Works With Xfinity Home platform.  This will enable Comcast Customers to integrate their 3rd party home automation devices using Xfinity internet into their Smart Home and enjoy home automation features that are controlled in the same interface through high-speed internet on their Xfinity mobile App

Future plans include potential relationships with other home automation companies as well….so stay tuned!

What happens with Comcast Home Security when I move?

Xfinity Alarm System Reviews – Relocation

One of the difficulties generally noted in negative online Xfinity Alarm reviews centers around the concerns that arise if a Comcast Security System client wants to relocate. When it is inside of the Comcast Home Security service region, there could be additional expenses.

In cases where the client moves outside the service region, generally, they are going to be responsible for the majority of the outstanding contract. With regards to particulars, get in touch with Xfinity Home support services should you already be an Xfinity Alarm patron.

If not, be certain to have a well-defined understanding of the contract requirements as well as the relocation terms before signing up. Don’t be reliant upon verbal promises from an Xfinity Home sales person- Make sure you get it in writing.

If you aren’t 100% pleased with the responses you end up with provided by Comcast Home Security, review some of our top 5 best home security systems before making a decision.

If you have experience in relocating an Xfinity Alarm system, please share your experience in our section for Xfinity Security System Reviews.

Does Comcast Home Security require a landline for monitoring?

Comcast Security System Reviews – Landline Monitoring?

Comcast Home Security does not require a landline for monitoring.

Comcast Home security systems use the cable connection for the primary data transmission with cellular as a backup.  This means there are no phone wires that can be cut. Additionally, a cable connection is required for Xfinity Security cameras to interface with the Comcast Home Security App.

While some Comcast Home security reviews might complain about the additional expense of a cellular connection, Comcast Home Security reviews indicate that Comcast Security customers are able to save some money by eliminating the landline completely.

Xfinity Home Security Cancellation Policy

So what happens if I want to cancel my Xfinity Alarm System?

Comcast Home Security requires a 24 month contract which also mandates that you maintain their broadband service throughout the term of the contract.  If you decide to cancel before the end of the contract, you will be liable for payment of a substantial termination fee.

“8. TERMINATION FEE. YOU AGREE THAT THE FEES DUE UNDER THIS AGREEMENT FOR THE INITIAL TERM ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR PRICING PLAN OR IDENTIFIED ON THE WORK ORDER ARE BASED ON YOUR AGREEMENT TO RECEIVE AND PAY FOR THE SERVICES FOR THE FULL INITIAL TERM. ACCORDINGLY, YOU AGREE THAT: IF YOU TERMINATE THIS AGREEMENT DURING ITS INITIAL TERM, YOU WILL PAY THE COMPANY AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO (A) $1100, LESS $100 FOR EVERY THREE (3) FULL CALENDAR MONTHS DURING WHICH YOU MAINTAINED SERVICE IF YOU HAVE PREFERRED SERVICE OR (B) $770, LESS $70 FOR EACH THREE (3) FULL CALENDAR MONTHS DURING WHICH YOU MAINTAINED SERVICE IF YOU HAVE BASIC SERVICE. THIS AMOUNT IS A TERMINATION FEE AND IS AN AGREED UPON AMOUNT OF DAMAGES, NOT A PENALTY. NO TERMINATION FEE IS DUE IF YOU TERMINATE DURING ANY RENEWAL PERIOD, UNLESS YOU HAVE AGREED TO A SERVICE PACKAGE REQUIRING AN ADDITIONAL MINIMUM TERM COMMITMENT. YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO A CREDIT IF THE CALCULATION OF THE TERMINATION FEE RESULTS IN A NEGATIVE NUMBER. YOUR FAILURE TO MAINTAIN A BROADBAND CONNECTION COMPATIBLE WITH THE SERVICES, AS DETERMINED BY COMPANY IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, SHALL CONSTITUTE YOUR TERMINATION OF THIS AGREEMENT.” Source: Xfinity Alarm Installation and Services Agreement. So let’s say you elect to cancel after 14 months.  You will incur a termination fee of $1100 minus $100 for each full 3 calendar months that you have maintained service.  In this case, that would mean that you deduct $400 from the $1100 termination fee. That means that you would have to pay an additional $700 to terminate your contract!  What is even worse is that you don’t retain ownership of the equipment until after you have satisfied the 24 month contractual obligation.  So you will likely have to return the equipment as well….Not a very customer friendly cancellation policy.

Perimeter Protection – When you sit down to design your Comcast security system, one of the primary concerns is perimeter protection. The focus, at this step, is to discourage possible thieves with yard signs, window stickers, and visible Xfinity Security cameras. Your Xfinity Alarm system should incorporate sensors installed on all doors as well as any vulnerable windows. Also, doors should have solid locks, with deadbolts.

Interior Protection – A good Comcast security system will also include a second line of defense, to detect an intruder if they get past the perimeter protection. Xfinity alarm motion detectors can be strategically positioned in high-value areas and/or common areas where an intruder might cross. Additional keypads or panic buttons can also be installed in areas wherever one might spend extended amounts of time-such as an office or bedroom. Indoor Xfinity Security cameras can be positioned anywhere where one might want to record or view activity.

Asset Protection- Sensors can also be installed to protect other areas of interest such as gun cabinets or an office that contains sensitive information. Many people configure individual sensors as “non-reporting. That way, if they are triggered, the Comcast security system will send a notification through the Xfinity Home App, without setting off the alarm.

Environmental Protection – Your Xfinity Home Security system can also be set up to monitor environmental dangers such as fire, carbon monoxide, flooding or freezing. Comcast Security has different sensors for each of these purposes.

Home Automation- Comcast Security systems can serve as the primary hub to regulate lighting, cameras, heat and air conditioning, doors and garage door openers. It can be configured to control essentially any home automation purpose remotely on the Xfinity Home Security App.

Protecting Your Xfinity Home Security System from Hackers

Protecting Your Xfinity Security Smart Home from Hackers

The proliferation of the IoT (Internet of Things) is a double-edged sword.  It helps you manage and stay connected with almost any facet of your home, but these conveniences can also create additional  vulnerablilities which can be exploited by potential intruders.

If you are considering adding smart home capabilities to your home, you want to make sure that you are taking the necessary steps to ensure that your home network is properly secured.

Research the Device

If you are adding a 3rd party device to your Comcast Home Security System, make sure that you do your due diligence and purchase the device from a recognized company that takes security seriously.  A good company will have password protection, one or two step authentication and be committed to periodic over the air firmware and security updates.

Register the Device

Be sure to register your equipment, not only for warranty purposes, but to ensure that you are receiving any firmware updates.  It is important to stay current with the latest versions of the software. Often times they address any known vulnerabilities.

Pay Attention to Passwords

It is important to immediately change default passwords. Passwords should be comprised of a variety of letters, cases, numbers and symbols that would be difficult to guess.  Be sure to use unique passwords for every device so that if your password for 1 device is compromised, you are not enabling access to all your sensitive accounts. If keeping track of a growing number of secure and unique passwords is becoming cumbersome, you may want to check out LastPass.

Create a secure Wi-Fi network.

It is essential that you take steps to protect your entire home network. Make sure that you have  changed the name of the network and default password. Choose a network name that doesn’t automatically give away your location or personal details.

With some routers, you can set up Wi-Fi network specifically for your smart home devices. This will allow you to segregate your “smart home” network and add an additional roadblock to prevent hackers from accessing the network from where you do your banking and store your sensitive information.

You might also want to consider setting up a Guest network for visitors’ smartphones and computers, where they can’t see or access your IoT devices.

Consider Professional Installation

If this sounds like more than you want to deal with. Keep in mind that many leading home security providers offer professional installation with built-in smart home integration. Xfinity Home Security technicians should be well versed in optimizing the security of your network be able to help you incorporate some more advanced security measures.

Reset to Factory Default Settings

Before you dispose of, sell or give away any smart devices, make sure that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions to remove all of your data.

Comcast Home Security - Arming Modes

Comcast Security Systm Arming Modes

OFF — When your Xfinity Security system is switched off, many of these alarms are still active.   Your Comcast Security system will still alert you if a doorway or window is opened. Additionally, the environmental and life security systems (i.e. water or low temperature) are still active.  As a result,  if a fire started or the system detects high levels of carbon monoxide, your system will still alert the Comcast Security central monitoring station.

Stay–  You can arm only the perimeter protection in the windows and doors by arming your Comcast Alarm system in the”stay” mode.   This will let you move about the home freely and have a certain degree of protection.

Away–  The away mode will trigger any interior motion detectors in addition to the windows and doors.

Instant –You are able to eliminate the entry delay in your Xfinity security system by arming it in an instant manner.

Duress –  You may establish a special duress code which will notify the Comcast Home Security monitoring center that there’s a possible hostage situation.  If a person were to physically make you disarm the system, this code will activate the immediate emergency response.

Panic- The Xfinity Security system is also equipped with emergency panic buttons.  Xfinity Home Security reviews applaud the fact that a Comcast Security system can alert the Comcast home security center that there is and occupied panic situation with the touch of a button.

Is Bundling Your Best Bet?

When it comes to picking a home security company, it is important to select a  reputable and experienced company that specializes in home and small business security.

Although these telecom providers have assembled competitive security and home automation packages, at the end of the day, they are more focused on diversifying income streams and increasing bottom line revenue than protecting your home and family.

Comcast, AT&T and Time Warner are all looking to cash in on the increased consumer demand for security and home automation.  They are banking on the fact that, rather than take the time to thoroughly research home security options, many consumers will just find it more convenient to add another service to their existing bill.  They offer bundled discounts which might initially appear attractive-counting on the fact that you won’t be paying attention when they hike up the bill after a few months.

You may be limited as to which of these options is available in your area, whereas the DIY alternatives, such as Frontpoint Home Security, Protect America Security Systems and Link Home Security can be easily installed pretty much anywhere in the US.

While traditional security companies will try to convince you that security systems require professional installation, more than 90% of consumers have found that the installation of these pre-programmed, wireless home security systems is simple and painless…..and like the fact that they don’t have to wait days or weeks, nor do they have to allow a complete stranger into the privacy of their homes.

Comcast vs AT&T vs TWC IntelligentHome

Which Telecom Triple Play Trumps the Rest?

While Xfinity,  TWC Intelligent Life and  AT&T Home Security have only recently entered the home security and automation business,  Comcast was first to offer security services in 2009.  AT&T and TWC followed suit a couple of years later….hoping to gain market share.

AT&T and Time Warner both have a 14-day return policy, whereas Xfinity extends out to 30 days. However, they still lag behind with a lower BBB rating.

Time Warner Cable IntelligentHome requires the shortest contract-just 18 months, as opposed to the 24 months required by each of the other service providers.

One advantage for AT&T Digital Life is that fact that their plans are available as a stand-alone services and do not require that the security services be bundled with their broadband services.

Perhaps the deciding factor may be the fact that the Comcast program enables one to monitor and control their system easily the television on their TVX1 package. I also like the comprehensive  video and home automation equipment package which is reasonably priced in their Home Secure 350 package.

Nevertheless, while they have all done a pretty good job resolving complaints once they are brought to the attention of the BBB, customer satisfaction ratings with all telecom companies are a huge challenge for all of these companies-with consistently poor scores in the Subscription Television Service division (their core competency) of the American Consumer Satisfaction Index.

NOTE: Cox Homelife was recently added to the Comparison Chart, Cox was not included in the summary comparison.  You can find more information on Cox Home Security Systems at: Cox Homelife Review.

Protecting Your Garage with an Xfinity Home Security System

Top  6 Ways to Enhance Garage Security with an Xfinity Security System

A complete Comcast Security System should do more than just protect the home. Xfinity home security reviews indicate that Xfinity alarm system owners are concerned with protecting the contents of that garage as well.

Tips on Enhancing Garage Security with a Comcast Security System

Xfinity Home Security Garage Protection Tips

Outdoor Xfinity Home Security Camera – Monitor activity and keep an eye on who approaches your garage doors. Most outdoor Comcast home security cameras offer 1080P HD resolution with motion detection and night vision.

Overhead Door Monitors – Always know whether the largest entry is open or closed. Tilt sensors use an inclinometer to detect the angle of the garage door. They send a signal to the control panel whether the overhead garage door is in an open or closed position.

Garage Door Openers – Allow automation and remote management of the overhead doors. With a wireless connection to the main home security system control panel, the doors can be controlled and even automated from the panel or right through the Protection One App.

Indoor Xfinity Security System Camera – See what’s happening within the garage when access is gained. Since the pandemic, many people have shipments and grocery deliveries inside the garage.  With an inside Comcast security camera, we can keep an eye on things remotely right on the Xfinity Home Security App.

Exterior Door Contacts – Keep all vulnerable garage doors protected. Exterior and/or home entranceways should be protected.

Heat Detectors – Not affected by smoke and fumes…a heat detector senses rapid rises of temperature due to fire.  This is especially important in homes with an attached garage.

So, if the budget allows…Comcast reviews indicate that updating or installing an Xfinity alarm system that includes garage door security can be well worth the investment!

B.Y.O.E. and Xfinity Home Security

Xfinity Home – B.Y.O.E?

Can you Bring Your Own Equipment with Xfinity Home?  This is certainly a common concern with homeowners who are switching from another home security company to take advantage of some of the newer technology available in a Comcast home security system.

Of course, any wireless equipment would have to be in good working order, compatible with the Xfinity Touch Screen control panel and approved by Comcast Security. Keep in mind, Xfinity Home Secure packages include a certain amount of free equipment for the initial install.

Of course the Home Secure warranty would not extend to any equipment that is not supplied as part of the Xfinity Home Security equipment package.

You may also want to consider the possible installation complications that this might create.  Many of the negative online Comcast Home Security reviews concern issues with inexperienced installation technicians.

Things to consider when choosing an Xfinity Home Security alarm panel

Top 5 things to look for when comparing Comcast Xfinity Alarm Panel

The central control panel will serve as the hub of your entire home security system. When considering an Xfinity Alarm System, make sure you look into the following features.

  1. Encryption – Not all panels have adequate encryption to protect against modern-day hackers. Encrypted Sensors make it very difficult to hack.  If you are upgrading a system, that could mean having to upgrade all your sensors. Also- some panels are compatible with previous generations of sensors, as well as sensors from other companies. This affords one maximum flexibility in the future.
  2. Aesthetic and UI – Today’s panels should be sleeker and more modern, with capacitive touch screen controls.
  3. 2-Way Voice – Industry-leading panels offer 2-way voice capability that allows direct communication with the CMS when an alarm is triggered.
  4. Z-Wave Plus – This is a new-and-improved protocol, allowing home-automation products to have more battery power, higher functionality, longer range, and many more benefits over the original Z-Wave protocol
  5. Alarm App – Make sure that the security and home automation platform seamlessly integrates the entire system and enables remote management, observation, and control, from your smartphone, computer, or tablet with an internet connection. You can check Apple App Store or Google Play for ratings.

What's new for Xfinity Home in 2017?

Xfinity Home Security Reviews Update-What’s new for Comcast Home Security in 2017?

Comcast Equipment

Well, for starters, Xfinity Home Security equipment has a whole new look.  The equipment has a sleeker more modern appearance…and some minor functional improvement, such as sliding battery doors to make changing the batteries easier.

Xfinity Home Secure

In addition, Comcast security has ditched their old Xfinity 300 and Xfinity 350 packages and has renamed their basic package…Xfinity Home Secure.  This is the starter package on which the Xfinity Home Security systems is customized and built through upsells and add-ons.

xCam – Indoor/Outdoor Xfinity Camera

This Wi-Fi enabled HD camera provides a 109° field of infrared night vison. xCam- Xfinity Home Camera It is weather resistant making it suitable for indoor and some outdoor applications.

24/7 Xfinity Home Video Surveillance Storage

Perhaps the most significant change for Comcast Security customers is the available 24/7 video storage option.  Comcast has responded to online feedback found in Xfinity Home Security reviews by offering Xfinity Home Secure customers can now elect to pay an additional $9.95 per month to have up to 10 days worth of cloud storage. Unlike most video monitoring packages, this will provide sufficient storage for up to 10 days of around the clock surveillance video.

The cost is $9.95 per camera…for up to 4 cameras.

X1 Voice Remote- Voice Control of the Xfinity Home System

For homes that are enrolled in the X1 service, the Xfinity Home can now be controlled by the X1 remote voice control. The user can bring up video feeds on the screen via voice command and perform other basic functions such as arming and disarming the system.

So Comcast is certainly not resting on their laurels.  They are taking steps to ensure that an Xfinity Home has the latest technologies.

Comcast Xfinity now offers additional options and features in the Xfinity packages and are updating to state of the art equipment.

However…this has never really been the real problem…the question that remains is whether or not they can provide satisfactory installation and customer service.

Can Comcast provide the level of customer service found in the top rated alarm companies of 2017 that specialize in home security?

Online Comcast Home Secure reviews from their existing customers would seem to indicate otherwise.

Time will tell…but in the meantime….

Can renters get Comcast Home Security?

Can you get an Xfinity Home Alarm System in a rental unit?

Comcast doesn’t actually plainly declare they will not install in rental units, but, practically all security companies which offer expert installation will require home ownership. If you happen to be renting a home, you need to give them a call directly. In the event that you are approved, you will likely end up being expected to be able to present documents concerning property or home owner consent.
For anyone who is renting, you should investigate our top recommended alarms systems for renters.

Do I need a permit for an Xfinity Alarm?

Is it obligatory to get an alarm permit to operate an Xfinity Alarm system?

Strictly speaking, you wouldn’t need a permit in the event the system was not going to be professionally monitored. Having said that, as the burglar alarm is being remotely monitored, by Comcast Home Security, with the purpose of utilizing emergency response providers, quite a few local municipalities must have a permit.
Most of the time, this calls for uncomplicated registration with a city law enforcement or sheriff’s department along with a reasonable payment. You will probably be also expected to present the company name, address and phone number of Xfinity Home Security, in addition to the monitoring station, in the event the two vendors happen to be different.
When permits are essential, the vast majority of towns will require a 1-time payment to register an individual’s security system, and others cities and towns request a yearly renewal as well. When it comes to towns with high burglary or false alarm rates, failure to register may bring about a refusal to respond to places which have not obtained a burglar alarm permit…although this is rather rare.

Nonetheless, you may well be responsible for some other penalties in the instance that police officers, fire or emergency medical assistance might be sent to a location with no permit operating in towns in instances where one is expected.

Regardless of whether a permit is in fact procured, a large percentage of cities will certainly assess penalties with respect to numerous false alarms. Nearly all towns have strategies set up wherein the 1st one or two dispatches do not entail fees. Subsequent to that, fines in most cases escalate from $25-50 for that first enforceable offense…to $100-200 for consequent repeat infractions.

Hence, it’s very important that Xfinity Home customers get in touch with their area police department, find what permits are necessary, acquire a detailed understanding of the local rules and make sure they go ahead and take essential basic steps in order to prevent false alarms.

Preventing False Alarms with Comcast Home Security

Methods to help Avoid False Alarms with Comcast Home Security

As stated earlier, false alarms caused by your Xfinity Alarm system may very well be not just an irritation (and cause a substantial strain on your area police and emergency services departments), but it may also wind up costing you very expensive penalties or fees.

As you may already know, the majority of dispatches are due to false alarms.  Consequently, a large percentage of towns assess penalties and fees to homeowners after they go beyond a selected level of false alarms.
To protect against the possibility of this affecting you, listed here are some ideas for preventing a false alarm with your Xfinity Security system.

Xfinity Home Security Reviews - Tips to Avoid False Alarms with Your Comcast Home Security System Infographic

• Make sure that everyone is familiar with the right way to disarm the security alarm. Your alarm is going to have a master passcode and in many cases a number of supplemental operator codes that one can program into the system.  Be certain everybody knows their code along with how to disarm the burglar alarm system.
• Make certain that everyone also knows the password. In the event of an alarm, the central monitoring station is going to, in most cases, call your home first and ask for the password to make sure that that the person responding to the call is definitely an authorized party. In case there is an alarm, if the man or woman responding to the contact could not give the correct password, the authorities would be sent.
• Be certain that every door and window is completely secured before setting the system. Any doors that have been left to some degree ajar may very well be blown open while you are away and set off the alarm.
• Determine that all sensors are set up safely and securely and in the required places. Motion sensors ought to be positioned at a height of 6’ and clear of fans, heating units, fireplace, and air conditioning systems.
• Take into account things that might possibly set off a motion detector. It’s not only the pets…Air conditioners might cause fluttering curtains or plants and even helium balloons –  which might be carried within your home because of air currents. Confirm they have strapped down away from motions.
• Ideally, pets should be confined to locations removed from motion sensors. When this is simply not possible, you can find “pet-friendly” or “pet immune” sensors which can screen out smaller sized pets below 40, 50 even 80 lbs. Additionally, motions can be set up to provide pet alleys in which pets could move freely about. Another choice is to use glass break sensors rather than motion detectors.
• Make sure you replace batteries when needed. The majority of alarm systems use Lithium-Ion batteries which usually have, at the very least, a 2 year estimated life expectancy. Your Xfinity Home App will generally advise you in the event the batteries are becoming low. Typically, it will alert you should there be around 1 month of usable life.

It is wise to obtain spare batteries and keep them handy so you can switch out them immediately. Your system may also report to you in case there are any other issues with sensors. Any time you have a system error alert, do a status check to check out the sensor. Speak to your Xfinity Home customer service agent if anything appears to be not working.

Save your customer Comcast Home Security manuals/codes/passwords in a very protected selected location in which they can be checked as appropriate. Although, the ideal way to avoid false alarms is by using your system routinely and ensure everyone understands how to operate the system.

Xfinity Home Security Reviews-

Advantages of Expert Set up with Xfinity Home

• Reduced Hassle
• Added Experience

While an expertly installed system from Xfinity Home may very well call for less effort, the majority agreed that the solutions offered by the top Do-it-yourself alarm system service providers were simple to install, uncomplicated saved most people a considerable amount of cash compared to a system installed by a professional from Comcast Home Security.

Be sure to ask Comcast Security whether or not the company is using their own employees or uses 3rd party subcontractors. Working with Xfinity Home subcontractors isn’t necessarily bad (they may also possess more past experiences compared to company technicians) However, Comcast Reviews caution customers to ensure that they ought to have gone through extensive vetting before allowing them into your house.

Regional as opposed to National

Keep in mind that Xfinity Home Security is not available in many parts of the country. This is often cited in negative Comcast Xfinity reviews. Customers become unhappy when they relocate and have difficulties in canceling their contracts.

When choosing a security service that will help give protection to your household and family members, we recommend acquiring the right nationwide home security featuring a long-standing historical background-that focuses primarily on home security systems. When it comes to a mobile culture, who knows when you may be required to transfer to…and desire to secure your home in a different area of the country.

No one wants to be shackled to a legal contract with a cable company which doesn’t support that location.

Xfinity  Security systems have advanced tremendously throughout the past several years.

And furthermore one of the advantages of improvements in technology is the fact that manufacturers of Comcast Home Security equipment place a great deal of concentration on simplifying the user interface.Xfinity Home - SMC Security Equipment- Aegis Control Panel

No longer do Xfinity Alarm users have to mess with intricate combinations of programs on old-school control panels.
