Reputation and Credibility


Based in Newton Square, Pennsylvania, My Alarm Center has been in operation since 2001. They offer a complete range of products and services including home security and automation, business security, video surveillance, and personal emergency response. 

While they currently enjoy an A+ BBB rating, there are numerous negative online Alarm Center Reviews referencing issues with customer service and difficulties in canceling service. 

Nevertheless, they do appear to be responsive to complaints once they are lodged with the BBB. 76 complaints have been lodged in the past 3 years..with nearly half register in the past 12 months. 

The website does list the 3 levels of monitoring, but it is not transparent when it comes to equipment, pricing, contractual requirement, guarantees, and equipment warranties. 

My Alarm Center and their subsidiaries provide service in 30 states…and their DIY option, Livesecure, is available nationwide. 




My Alarm Center operates its own UL Listed, CSAA Five Diamond Certified monitoring center. This level of accreditation meets the highest industry standards and is awarded to less than 5% of central monitoring stations across the country.

Monitoring starts at a fairly competitive rate of $34.95 a month for basic monitoring. As mentioned earlier the terms of the contracts are not listed… and the site indicates that pricing varies depending on the region. 

My Essential – $34.95

Their entry-level monitoring includes basic cellular monitoring for intrusion, fire, and CO.  The panel, KeyFob, and basic door/window sensors are included. If you want to manage the system remotely, get real-time alerts, and take advantage of home automation technology, you will have to step up to the My Home plan. 

My Home – $49.95

This plan provides remote access through their interactive app to be able to arm/disarm the system remotely, receive activity alerts, unlock doors, and control thermostats.  

My Home Premier – $59.95

Their premier offering, the My Home Premier plan, adds video capabilities to the mix.  It included remote monitoring, video activity capture, and storage, as well as video notifications with clips.  



My Alarm Center Pricing and Equipment


If you are looking for specifics on equipment sold prices and installation costs, I am afraid you will have to speak with a local representative to get any details.  When it comes to My Alarm Center equipment, costs, pricing, and installation…there is virtually no visibility on the website.  

Of course, as a full-service home security provider, they will undoubtedly offer a wide range of home security, video, and home automation equipment, including:

They don’t publish equipment or package prices. They have chosen the more traditional security approach of offering a completely customized security solution. They will have a “trained security consultant” provide a “quote” based on individual needs and circumstances.

While this might sound good in theory, it makes it very difficult for the prospective client to compare price and services.  

One should be prepared to spend at least an hour with a salesperson that has been coached to maximize “upsells” and “close” the sale on the spot.


Customer Service


Their A+ BBB rating is indicative that they take the necessary steps to resolve serious customer complaints and issues that are filed with the BBB.  In the past 3 years there have been 76 complaints filed with the BBB-all of which have been closed.  

The majority of complaints on forums and online review sites  pertain mostly to billing issues and difficulties  in cancelling service.


 Summary- My Alarm Center 


 My Alarm Center offers a wide array of products and services. They have both Professionally Installed and DIY home security solutions.

They have maintained regional branding from some of the companies that they have acquired.  This may result in a different customer experience when it comes to the installation and local service.  However, the monitoring service should be the same.

It is evident from the A+ BBB rating that they are committed to resolving customer disputes- at least when it reaches that level. While they provide little online transparency regarding policies and pricing, it appears that they provide a quality service, albeit at a relatively premium price.

Because they are not disclosed, upfront costs may be substantially higher than  our top ranked home security systems. To find out what the actual installation costs and ongoing monitoring costs will be, you must be comfortable with telesales or the traditional in-home sales and installation processes.
